Jason Momoa Achieves Longtime Dream, Directs and Stars in Action-Packed Guinness Ad for St. Patrick’s Day

After 12 years of aspiring to direct a commercial for Ireland’s iconic stout, Jason Momoa fulfilled his dream with the official directorial debut for the latest action-packed Guinness ad, just in time for St. Patrick’s Day. The Hawaiian-born actor, who admires Guinness commercials, pitched the idea while on location in New Zealand for his latest film.

Coni, who handed her son his first pint of Guinness at age 21, described the experience as nerve-wracking but fun.

The narrative unfolds as Momoa, in a dimly lit sushi restaurant, discovers news of his Irish heritage and embarks on a high-energy journey through the city. Bursting into a small Irish pub, he joyfully declares his newfound Irish identity, sharing a celebratory moment with his mother and fellow patrons.

Guinness US brand director Joyce He expressed excitement about the collaboration, noting that working with Momoa is more than a partnership; it marks the beginning of a new chapter in the brand’s story. The “Lovely Day” campaign, slated to run throughout the year, aims to bring Guinness to new audiences, with additional variations and social media clips set to be unveiled.

The approximately two-and-a-half-minute ad will premiere digitally and on social media, followed by a TV release on March 11. As Momoa fulfills his dream, the collaboration promises to enhance the iconic status of Guinness in the world of advertising.
