Billie Eilish, 21, and her mother, Maggie Baird, took center stage as hosts for a unique climatе activism event called “Overheated” in London on Wednesday evening. The event, held at Flipper’s Roller Boogie Palace in White City, provided a platform for discussions on the pressing issue of the climate crisis.
For the occasion, the singer opted for her signature grungy style, donning a baggy T-shirt layered over a long-sleeved top paired with loose-fitting trousers. Completing her ensemble, she added a striped beanie and classic black Converse sneakers.
The event attracted climate activists, musicians, and prominent voices, offering a space for discussions, community building, and resources to address the climate crisis. Guests were treated to roller skating and enjoyed a plant-based menu from Neat Burger, presented by Support + Feed.
Hosted by the BBC’s Abbie McCarthy, the panel of special guests included Earthrise CEO Alice Eady, fashion entrepreneur Samata Pattinson, and climate activists Dominique Palmer and Tori Tsui. Although only 500 tickets were sold, fans could also watch the event on Billie’s YouTube channel.
Last year, Billie hosted a similar event at London’s O2 Arena, featuring a screening of the documentary “Overheated” with appearances from Yungblud, Girl In Red, and Emily Eavis.
In a January interview with Vogue, Billie emphasized her commitment to climate activism, discussing her generation’s responsibility in facing a precarious future. Wearing a sustainable Balmain ensemble, she expressed a desire to make a difference without seeking attention for it. Billie acknowledged the environmental impact of her industry but emphasized her efforts to approach it responsibly.
Furthermore, Billie addressed her hopes for her generation, praising like-minded individuals for their intelligence and activism, instilling hope for positive change. Known for her political stance, she previously urged followers to vote for Joe Bidеn, emphasizing the importance of addressing issues such as climate change, CоVID, systemic racism, and inequality.
