Billie Eilish shared that opening up about her experience with Tourette Syndrome has brought her closer to fans who also live with the condition.

During an appearance on Ellen, the 17-year-old singer-songwriter revealed that she initially kept her Tourette Syndrome diagnosis private to avoid being labeled solely by it.

She expressed, “It’s not anything different, you know? I just never said anything because I didn’t want that to define who I was.”

Eilish mentioned that she has methods to manage her Tourette Syndrome symptoms, but there have been instances where others misunderstood her movements as comedic gestures.

However, after acknowledging her condition publicly, Eilish found a sense of connection with fans who shared similar experiences, making her feel more comfortable discussing it. She felt a genuine bond with those who resonated with her story, realizing that they could relate to her on a deeper level.

Ellen praised Eilish for her openness, emphasizing that her journey and accomplishments serve as an inspiration to many.

Aside from discussing Tourette Syndrome, Eilish also recounted some memorable encounters with fellow celebrities, including Sporty Spice and Sir Paul McCartney, on her journey to stardom.

The episode took a lighthearted turn with an April Fools’ Day prank orchestrated by Ellen, involving a staff member donning a wig resembling Justin Bieber’s hairstyle to surprise Eilish, who is known to be a fan of Bieber.
