Billie Eilish certainly enjoyed a night of celebration after securing an Oscar win at the 96th Academy Awards on March 10.
The singer updated her fans via her Instagram Stories, revealing that she was out until nearly 6 am following the star-studded ceremony, which saw “Oppenheimer” clinch the Best Picture award.
Seated at a spacious booth in the Silver Lake neighborhood of Los Angeles’ Astro Family Restaurant, known for its array of breakfast and burger options, Billie had her engraved statuette placed on the wooden table in front of her, as evidenced by a 5:36 AM time stamp on the photo.
Eilish’s Oscar triumph was for Best Original Song with “What Was I Made For?” from the popular Barbie movie. She sported the same black blazer and striped shirt worn at the Vanity Fair Oscar party, albeit with her long dark hair pinned up and makeup slightly smudged.
While sipping water, the singer had a plate of scrambled eggs beside her. Billie and her brother and co-writer, Finneas O’Connell, 26, jointly received the honor after performing their song during the event. This marked their second Oscar win following their victory in 2022 for the James Bond theme tune, “No Time to Diе.”
With this win, Billie became the youngest person to ever win more than one Academy Award, while Finneas became the second-youngest. Their success capped a triumphant awards season, with Billie becoming the first woman to achieve the Triple Crown—winning an Oscar, Grammy, and Golden Globe for film music—twice.
“What Was I Made For?” faced competition from other tracks such as “I’m Just Ken” from Barbie, “It Never Went Away” from American Symphony, “The Fire Inside” from Flamin’ Hоt, and “Wahzhazhe (A Song for My People)” from Killers of the Flower Moon.
During her acceptance speech, Billie expressed her disbelief at the win, thanking the Academy and expressing gratitude for the song and movie’s impact on her and its viewers.
“Oppenheimer” secured an impressive seven Oscars that night, while Barbie only managed to win one. Additionally, Emma Stone led “Poor Things” to four wins, including her Best Actress accolade, and the UK film “The Zone Of Interest” received two awards.
Christopher Nolan’s historical epic dominated the major categories, with wins for Best Actor Cillian Murphy, Best Supporting Actor Robert Downey Jr., and Nolan himself, along with the coveted Best Picture award.
In contrast, Barbie, which triumphed over “Oppenheimer” in the summer’s “Barbenheimer” box office showdown, only secured one award for Best Original Song with “What Was I Made For?
