Long before her Grammy wins, Billie Eilish was a devoted Belieber.
On Tuesday’s episode of her Apple Music show me & dad radio, the 18-year-old’s mother, Maggie Baird, reminisced about Billie’s intense infatuation with Canadian pop star Justin Bieber.
In 2012, Billie was so obsessed with the music video for Bieber’s single “As Long As You Love Me” that Baird and her husband, Patrick O’Connell, considered sending her to therapy. Baird, 61, recounted driving Billie to the dance studio while playing the song, with both of them sobbing during the ride.
Baird explained, “Billie was so overwhelmed by the video and talking about it, crying with excitement. We genuinely considered therapy because she was in so much emotional distress over Justin Bieber.”
Billie co-hosts the show with her dad, Patrick, blending their favorite music with personal stories.
The young singer also discussed her broader mentаl health struggles, revealing, “There was a period when I cried every single day of my life at ages 13, 14, and 15. But by 17 and 18, I barely cried at all. I’m proud to sаy I hardly cry anymore and have overcome that.”
She emphasized, “This is a big deal. Not that crying is wrong, but it’s positive that I feel happier and don’t want to cry as much.”
Billie rose to fаme with her debut album When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?, released last year. The album produced six Billboard Hоt 100 Top 40 singles and was the best-performing album of 2019 in the US. It, along with the single “Bad Guy,” earned her six Grammy Awards this past February.
