Jennifer Lopez and Anthony Ramos are teaming up to adapt the popular children’s show Bob the Builder into a full-length animated film.
Lopez’s Nuyorican Productions, along with Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas and Benny Medina, is collaborating with Ramos and animation studio ShadowMachine for the project.Ramos, known for his roles in Hamilton and In the Heights, will voice the lead character, the titular general contractor. The film’s plot follows Bob as he undertakes a major construction job on the enchanting Island of Puerto Rico, addressing issues affecting the island and exploring the deeper meaning of construction.The movie promises to celebrate the vibrant textures of Caribbean Latin nations and their people. Ramos expressed pride in contributing to the film, aiming to convey an important message inspired by his own experiences. He described the project as a story of friends working together, celebrating a shared home, and overcoming obstacles with love.Using the iconic catchphrase, Ramos concluded, “Can we fix it? Yes, we can!” Bob the Builder aired for 12 seasons from 1999 to 2011, and this adaptation is part of Mattel Films’ ongoing development slate following the success of their debut film, Barbie, released last year.
