In a delightful surprise for fellow movie-goers, Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck were recently spotted at a theater enjoying a screening of Dune: Part Two. A video shared by an X user captured the couple standing up and cleaning their seats after the nearly-three-hour film.
The video’s caption read, “Dune 2 was AMAZING. Post credits scene was realizing JLo & Ben Affleck were sitting right in front of us lol,” expressing the movie-goer’s excitement at discovering the celebrity couple in attendance.
However, Lopez and Affleck weren’t the only ones captivated by the epic science-fiction film. Dune: Part Two achieved significant success, grossing $82.5 million at the domestic box office during its opening weekend and swiftly becoming the highest-grossing movie worldwide in 2024 within its first six days of release.
Actress Mindy Kaling also shared her experience of watching the film on Instagram, stating, “Every three years @asekar95 and I make the pilgrimage to see the latest @dunemovie! As Bene Gesserit, we felt seen. It was a masterpiece! Congrats @tchalamet @zendaya!”
Dune, based on Frank Herbert’s 1965 novel, stars Timothée Chalamet as Paul Atreides, navigating a complex web of conspiracies and prophecies on the planet Arrakis. The latest installment continues Paul’s journey as he allies with the planet’s native people, the Fremen, played by Zendaya and Javier Bardem, to liberate them from oppression and seek revenge.
Known for its epic scale, intense action, and unique themed popcorn buckets designed by AMC Theatres, the film has gained immense popularity. The buckets, resembling the giant sandworms of Dune’s Arrakis, have even become collector’s items, fetching hundreds of dollars online.
Dune: Part Two boasts a star-studded cast, including Austin Butler, Florence Pugh, Christopher Walken, Josh Brolin, Léa Seydoux, Dave Bautista, and Stellan Skårsgard. This cinematic journey is the second adaptation of Dune for the big screen, following the 1984 version by David Lynch starring Kyle MacLachlan.
As Dune: Part Two continues to enthrall audiences, it remains a must-watch cinematic experience currently gracing theaters.
