Jennifer Lopez has traditionally not been one to prioritize vacations, but her recent summers spent in Italy have shifted her perspective. In a recent interview with Travel + Leisure, the 54-year-old singer and actress shared how her experiences in the south of Italy have opened her eyes to the joys of relaxation.
Having previously dedicated much of her life to work, Lopez admits that her trips to Italy have been a revelation. “When I finally went to spend a couple of summers in a row in the south of Italy, I really, really loved it,” she said, reflecting on her newfound appreciation for leisure time.
For Lopez, the allure of Italy lies in its coastal charm. “I just love being on the water, to be honest,” she explained. “I feel like the water is really something that calms me. I can actually sit still and stare at the ocean and at the sky.” The opportunity to dine al fresco and bask in the fresh air adds to the appeal of her Italian getaways.
Given her busy schedule, Lopez cherishes the chance to embrace the outdoors, contrasting her usual studio and set environments with the luxury of open-air experiences. “I think it’s because I’m always inside at the studios and sets, recording sessions inside, that being outside is like a luxury for me,” she mused.
These trips hold special significance for Lopez, especially when she can share them with her children. Having taken her twins to Singapore during her Dance Again World Tour in 2012, Lopez treasures the memories of providing her children with opportunities she never had growing up in the Bronx.
Lopez’s romantic partner, Ben Affleck, has also been part of her Italian adventures. The couple, who tied the knot in July 2022, explored the country during their honeymoon and continued to enjoy its beauty together.
Reflecting on her rekindled relationship with Affleck, Lopez expressed gratitude for the timing of their reunion. “It’s a beautiful outcome that this has happened in this way at this time in our lives where we can really appreciate and celebrate each other and respect each other,” she shared with PEOPLE.
