Emme and Max Celebrate Their Milestone Birthday with a Memorable Journey
Jennifer Lopez’s children, Emme and Max, may not often step into the limelight, but their mother occasionally treats her millions of Instagram followers to glimpses of their lives, especially on their birthdays, which fall on February 22nd.
For their special 16th birthday, Lopez shared a video documenting the twins’ birthday trip to Japan.
“I’ve never seen Max so excited,” Lopez said to Emme, who responded, “I’ve never seen myself so excited.”
The video showcases their adventures in Asia, including sampling traditional foods, interacting with piglets, making mochi, participating in a tea ceremony, exploring a light exhibit, and enjoying two birthday cakes connected by a “hashi,” or bridge.
Lopez’s song, “Hummingbird,” serves as the soundtrack to the montage.
The video concludes with Lopez’s message, “Happy Birthday to my coconuts. I love you,” using her affectionate nickname for the twins.
Lopez shares co-parenting responsibilities with her ex-husband, singer Marc Anthony. Together with her current husband, Ben Affleck, she is helping raise her stepchildren Violet, Seraphina, and Samuel, whom Affleck shares with his ex-wife, Jennifer Garner.
During a recent appearance on TODAY, Lopez discussed her new album “This Is Me… Now” and her Amazon original film “This Is Me… Now: A Love Story.”
“And by the way, your kids are turning 16,” Hoda Kotb remarked.
“Isn’t it crazy, they’re 16,” Lopez replied.
Here’s everything you need to know about Lopez’s “coconuts.”
Emme Maribel Muñiz
From giving her mom the death stare for filming at a SZA concert to joining her on stage at the Super Bowl halftime show in 2020, Emme isn’t afraid to show her personality. Could Emme have a singing career in the future? It’s quite possible. The teenager, whom Lopez refers to using gender-neutral pronouns, has sung alongside her mother on several occasions. In 2022, Emme harmonized with Lopez to Christina Perri’s “A Thousand Years” at the Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation’s Blue Diamond Gala. Lopez jokingly mentioned at the event that Emme is “very, very busy and booked and pricey,” but she considers her the best duet partner ever.
Emme is also a published author of the inspirational picture book “Lord Help Me,” which explores the power of prayer in everyday life.
Maximilian “Max” David Muñiz
Max appears to be a socially conscious teenager. Deeply affected by George Floyd’s murder, Max encouraged Lopez and her then-fiancé Alex Rodriguez to attend a protest. The kids helped them create signs that read, “Black Lives Matter” and “Let’s Get Loud for Black Lives Matter.”
“He wanted me to make sure I realized that I had power and that I should use it, and I thought that was very insightful,” Lopez shared with Elle magazine.
Even at age 11, Max asked his mom insightful questions on her YouTube channel, demonstrating his curiosity and thoughtfulness. Lopez praised Max’s sense of humor, vocabulary, and “big heart.”
While Max tends to maintain a lower profile than his sister, he made his acting debut in “Marry Me,” the rom-com his mother starred in, in 2022.
