With over 70 million records sold, multiple Grammys, and even a James Bond theme song under her belt, US singer Billie Eilish (“Bad Guy”) has become a megastar at just 18 years old, adored by fans worldwide. However, there were also times when Billie herself was a fan – of pop heartthrob Justin Bieber. Her enthusiasm for the singer was once so intense that her parents apparently considered sending her to therapy.
Billie, her mother Maggie Baird, and her father Patrick O’Connell discussed her immense obsession with “Biebs” on their “Me & Dad Radio” show on Apple Music. The parents revealed that in 2012, their daughter eagerly awaited the music video for Bieber’s song “As Long As You Love Me.”
Billie was said to be so beside herself that she would often cry when listening to Bieber’s music. Reflecting on this, Billie herself recalls, “I watched the music video for this song and just sobbed.”
Concerned about their teenage daughter’s intense emotions, her parents jokingly mentioned considering therapy due to her infatuation with Justin Bieber. However, this remark seems to have been made in jest.
While Billie’s adolescent obsession with Justin Bieber may have caused concern at the time, she now knows firsthand the seriousness of mentɑl health struggles. She has been open about her battles with depression and pɑnic attacks, acknowledging the importance of therapy for maintaining her mentɑl well-being.
Despite her past fan-girl experiences, Billie likely no longer requires therapy sessions due to Justin Bieber, as she now encounters the Canadian megastar on equal footing.
