It’s the year 2028 and OmniCorp is the ruler of robot technology. Although their drones have been used by the military overseas and have been keeping countries at peace, Americans don't want robots ruling their country. OmniCorp is adamant that America will benefit from these robots and found the perfect solution how to bring them to the country. When Alex Murphy (Joel Kinnaman), a loving father, husband and Detroit cop, becomes injured in the line of duty, OmniCorp steps in and builds a part-man, part-robot, which they call the RoboCop because he's practically invincible. The company believes RoboCop can protect citizens in every city but things go awry when they fail to remember that there is still a living man inside the machine.

Robocop is a true Classic and one of my favorite Paul Verhoeven movies 🙂. I love 80s and 90s movies so much and i am born in 1990 🙂. They sure don’t make movies like they used to anymore .

In hindsight this movie is the most accurate depiction of a dystopian future as imagined by screenwriters decades earlier. You look at how Robocop's Detroit is basically America of the early 21st century. 1. Ruthlessly pragmatic mega corporation (OCP) that controls every aspect of society; all human lives are expendable, and nothing matters but the bottom line 2. Emboldened criminals running roughshod throughout the city (modern-day LA, SF, NY)3. Brainless entertainment ("I'd buy that for a dollar")to keep the masses drugged and distracted (most of youtube; reality tv)Compare this to the cartoonish flying cars of Back to the Future II's 2015 and you would think the creators of Robocop were psychics.

The first time I watched this movie as a 12 year old, it reminded a little bit of The Six Million Dollar Man, and eventually, I found it somewhat similar to the Terminator. As an adult, this movie reminds me a little bit of the story Frankenstein on a more obvious level, but on a more subtle level, it also parallels the story of The Resurrection (of Christ) in many ways.
