In 2020, the two musicians collaborated on a remix of Carey’s “Oh Santa” featuring Jennifer Hudson.
A new Ariana Grande and Mariah Carey partnership is coming soon.
On social media on Wednesday, Grande revealed that Carey will be featured on a remix of her most recent song, “Yes, And?” The release of the remix is scheduled for Friday. Grande described the collaboration as a “dream come true.”
The Wicked actress, 30, posted a caption to the remix’s cover image, which showed her and Carey, 54, posing side by side in all-black attire and staring straight into the camera. “I cannot believe the words i am typing,” she said.
Grande went on, “Yeah, But? This Friday,!!!!!!!!!! the remix featuring the one and only, queen of my heart, and inspiration for my entire existence, @mariahcarey, will be released.
The singer of “Thank U, Next” expressed her pleasure about collaborating with Songbird Supreme. She wrote, “there truly are no words that suffice.” “thank you from the bottom of my heart for this dream come true and for sprinkling your brilliance and magic on my little song @mariahcarey.”
“it means more to me than i could ever possibly articulate and i cannot wait for everyone to hear this,” concluded Grande’s note. “i love you eternally !!!!!!!”
Prior to the formal announcement, Grande posted a similar image of each artist’s eye on her Instagram Story, hinting at the collaboration between the two artists on Wednesday.
The two previously collaborated on a remix of Carey’s 2010 song “Oh Santa” featuring Jennifer Hudson for the Apple TV+ Mariah Carey’s Magical Christmas Special’s soundtrack in 2020.
Before reuniting in December 2023 to make its live debut at one of Carey’s Merry Christmas One and All! concerts at Madison Square Garden in New York City, all three vocalists sang the remix in the 2020 special.
The original version of “Yes, And?” was released last month as the lead single from Grande’s forthcoming album Eternal Sunshine, out March 8. The track, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, finds the star shrugging off haters and embracing self-confidence over a slick disco-and-house-inspired beat.
Grande recently told fans she won’t be releasing any more singles ahead of the full album, though she assured listeners “a little surprise or two” would be coming — and Carey’s remix of “Yes, And?” appears to be one of them.
The Sweetener musician posted on Instagram earlier this month, “I wanted to say… as hard as it is to resist the urge to share another song or single with you all asap, i would really love for you to experience the album in full this time.”
“My ideal way for you all to experience this body of work is to wait a little longer for you to be able to listen fully through first,” Grande wrote.
“I appreciate your faith in my idea and strategy!” She went on. “I appreciate your patience so much; you have been waiting for new music from me for a very long time! I genuinely can’t wait for this new era to be yours, and I look forward to enjoying every moment of it with you all!
