After a five-year absence, Zendaya marked her highly anticipated return to the steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art tonight, this time taking on the role of a first-time co-chair for the annual Met Gala. Embracing the event’s theme, “The Garden of Time,” the superstar collaborated with her longtime stylist and close confidant, Law Roach, to present not one, but two perpetually stylish ensembles that are destined to become iconic in Met Gala history.

In her first appearance, the “Challengers” star transformed into a fairy-tale villain in an extraordinary Maison Margiela Artisanal creation by John Galliano, inspired by a 1999 Dior dress. The one-shouldered gown boasted a long trumpet skirt adorned with royal-blue and emerald-green diagonal stripes, embellished with fruit-like decorations cascading down one side of the waist. She elevated the look further with a net mesh and tulle-feathered fascinator.

Later in the evening, Zendaya surprised onlookers with a second entrance at the foot of the steps, this time donning a stunning black gown from John Galliano’s Givenchy era, dating back to 1996. The ensemble featured a corseted lace-up bodice, complemented by long, billowy off-the-shoulder sleeves and a structured peplum hemline, all topped with an enormous skirt that nearly engulfed the entire length of the Met’s staircase. As a final touch, she adorned herself with a bouquet-themed fascinator wrapped in black tulle, originally designed by Philip Treacy for Alexander McQueen in 2006.
